What does compensator pre-stretch mean

Compensator pre-stretching refers to stretching the compensator prior to installation so that it is deformed to a certain extent so that it can withstand greater fluid pressure and temperature changes during operation

Specifically, pre-stretching is a certain pretreatment of the compensator during the manufacturing process of the compensator, so that it has certain elasticity and deformation ability. The compensator is held in an elongated state by a locking mechanism, forming a stable state. The function of pre-stretching is to make the compensator have certain tension and deformation capacity in actual use, so as to better absorb these deformations and displacements and protect the pipeline from damage.

The realization of pre-stretching is inseparable from the mechanical properties of materials. Since compensators are typically made of flexible materials, the elasticity and deformability of their materials are critical for pre-stretching. Generally, when making a compensator, the flexible material is fixed on one side, the other end is stretched forcefully to 1.25 times or 1.5 times the normal temperature state, and then it is fixed in that state. In this way, the compensator has a certain prestress in actual use, which can better absorb the deformation and displacement caused by temperature, pressure and vibration of the pipe.

Pre-stretching can improve the performance of the compensator, making it more suitable for different applications. At the same time, pre-stretching can also reduce the vibration of the pipeline system, which in turn reduces the noise generated by the pipeline, protects the internal components of the corrugated compensator and extends its service life. Therefore, pre-stretching is a very important link when making and using the compensator.
