FAQ

What are the Installation Methods of Air Cooled Pipe Compensator?

The installation method of air-cooled pipe compensators will vary depending on the specific compensator type, piping system design, and working environment. The following are several common air-cooled pipeline compensator installation methods and precautions:

    1. Flange connection mounting

  • Scope of application: Suitable for compensators with flange interfaces.

  • Installation Steps

    • Verify that the compensator matches the flange size of the piping system.

    • Align the flange of the compensator with the flange of the ductwork and connect using bolts and spacers.

    • Tighten the bolts to the torque values provided by the manufacturer, ensuring that the joints are sealed well and firmly.

    2. welded connection

  • Scope of application: Suitable for metal bellows type compensator or metal expansion joint, especially in directly buried pipeline.

  • Installation Steps

    • Check whether the model and specification of the compensator meet the design requirements before installation.

    • For compensators that need to be "cold tightened", the auxiliary components are fixed after pre-deformation, and then removed after the pipeline is installed.

    • Use suitable welding process and technical parameters to weld the compensator directly to the pipe, pay attention to the welding quality and ensure the welding strength and tightness.

    • During the installation process, the weld slag is avoided from splashing onto the surface of the wave shell, and the wave shell is prevented from other mechanical damage.

    3. Sleeve connection (stuffed box type)

  • Scope of application: Suitable for unidirectional or bidirectional displacement compensation requirements.

  • Installation Steps

    • For a unidirectional compensator, it should be installed on a straight pipe next to the fixed bracket; For bi-directional compensators, they should be installed between two fixed brackets.

    • Before and after installation, ensure that the guide bracket is set correctly to guide the compensator to move in the expected direction.

    • When installing, adjust the position of the compensator so that it can slide freely and unhindered.

  • Temperature compensation calculation: According to the pipe expansion formulaX=aLDeltaTCalculate the required compensation length, whereaIs the linear expansion coefficient,LIs the length of the pipeline required for compensation,DeltaTIt's the temperature difference.

  • Media flow direction identification: If there is a liner or other internal structure in the compensator, install it with the arrow above pointing in the direction of media flow.

  • Support and Fixation: Ensure that all moving elements of the compensator are not stuck by external components or restrict their range of movement, and add temporary brackets if necessary.

  • Preparation for hydraulic test: Before conducting the hydraulic test, reinforce the fixed pipe frame near the compensator to prevent the pipeline from moving or rotating; If it is a gaseous medium, consider whether additional support structures are needed when filling with water.

  • Cleaning and maintenance: After the test, the accumulated water should be discharged in time, and the inside of the wave shell should be blown dry to avoid corrosion. When contacting the insulation material, it should be careful that it does not contain chloride ions to avoid damaging the compensator.

    5. Installation Tips

  • Pre-deformation treatment: For some compensators that require pre-deformation (such as "cold tightening"), the pre-deformation should be released according to the design requirements after the installation is completed, so that the compensator is in a natural state.

  • Limit device adjustment: After installation, the limit device shall be adjusted to the specified position according to the actual working conditions to ensure that the compensator has sufficient compensation ability.

  • Avoid undue stress: It is strictly prohibited to adjust pipe installation errors by changing the shape of the compensator, which can affect the functionality of the compensator and shorten its service life.

Precautions

  • The instructions and technical documentation provided by the manufacturer should be read carefully and all guidelines should be followed before installing any type of compensator.

  • If complex or special installation conditions are involved, it is recommended to contact professional engineers or suppliers for technical support.

Proper installation is key to ensuring that the compensator works properly and has a longer service life, so it must be performed in strict accordance with the specifications.
