Correct Installation Method of Corrugated Compensator

The proper installation of the corrugated compensator is essential to ensure the proper operation of the piping system and to extend the life of the compensator. Here are some key installation steps and considerations:

  1. Check and prepare

  • Before installation, check whether the model and specification of the corrugated compensator conform to the design requirements.

  • Verify that the surface of the compensator is free of quality-affecting defects such as bruises, craters, or severe corrosion.

  • The corrugated compensator should be kept properly to avoid sun, rain and dust pollution.

  • Confirm Installation Direction

    • If the compensator has an inner sleeve, ensure that the direction of the inner sleeve coincides with the direction of the media flow.

    • The hinge rotation plane of the hinge type corrugated compensator shall be consistent with the displacement rotation plane.

  • Avoid pre-stretching or compression

    • If the total length of the finished product of the compensator matches the specimen, do not artificially stretch or compress.

    • If necessary, adjust according to the mounting marking on the telescopic header.

  • Special installation of bidirectional thrust-free compensator

    • Install in accordance with the flow direction of the media, particularly steam media, to avoid the formation of air plugs.

    • The bi-directional compensator is arranged between the two fixed points to ensure equal compensation in both directions.

  • Pipe Groove Treatment and Welding

    • The pipe sections connected to both ends of the compensator need to be beveled to ensure good welding quality.

    • Perform hydraulic pressure test as required after welding, and tighten bolts at both ends of packing chamber again after pressure test.

  • Cold tightening and auxiliary components

    • For compensators that need to be "cold tightened", the auxiliary components used for pre-deformation should be removed only after the pipeline is installed.

  • Avoid improper adjustments

    • It is strictly prohibited to use the deformation of the corrugated compensator to adjust the installation deviation of the pipeline, which will affect the normal function and service life of the compensator.

  • Protective bellows

    • During installation, avoid welding slag splashing onto the bellows surface and prevent the bellows from other mechanical damage.

  • Pipe fixings and brackets

    • After the pipeline is installed, the pipeline fixing bracket must be made and reinforced to prevent the pipeline from displacing or exceeding the limit and elongating.

  • COMPLIANCE WITH CODE AND STANDARDS

    • Comply with all applicable plumbing installation codes and standards to ensure safety and compliance of the installation process.

Please remember that it is very important to carefully read and follow the installation instructions provided by the manufacturer before installation. If you encounter any uncertainty during the installation process, it is best to consult a professional plumbing engineer or the manufacturer's technical support.
