Rubber expansion joint implementation standards involve design, materials, manufacturing, inspection and testing. Here are some of the main rubber expansion joint execution standards:

  1. CJ/T 208-2005 Flexible Rubber Joints

  • This Chinese urban construction industry standard stipulates the definition, classification, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of flexible rubber joints.

  • HCRJ 070-1999

    • This standard, also of China, specifies the definition, classification and naming, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of flexible rubber joints.

  • GB/T 12465-2002

    • This is a general standard for pipe fittings, which contains relevant technical requirements for rubber expansion joints.

  • ISO 10397

    • This standard from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) covers the requirements and test methods for rubber and plastic corrugated expansion joints.

    Rubber expansion joint execution standards typically cover the following:

    • Materials: Specified rubber material types, such as natural rubber, neoprene, ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM), hydrogenated nitrile rubber, etc., and their performance requirements, such as hardness, tensile strength, elongation at break, weather resistance, and corrosion resistance.

    • Working pressure: Common working pressure levels such as 0.25MPa, 0.6MPa, 1.0MPa, 1.6MPa, 2.5MPa, 4.0MPa, 6.4MPa.

    • Flange connection: Size, type of flange, layout, number and diameter of bolt holes, etc.

    • Dimensions: Nominal diameter, length, expansion and contraction amount, deflection angle, etc.

    • Test Methods: Such as air tightness test, hydraulic pressure test, fatigue test, etc.

    • Inspection rules: Including factory inspection and type inspection requirements.

    • Marking, packaging, transportation and storage: Product label Identification, packaging methods, transportation precautions and storage conditions.
