FAQ

Gas bellows are replaced every few years

The replacement cycle of gas bellows varies according to factors such as its material, use environment and maintenance status. The following is the general replacement cycle of gas bellows made of different materials:

  1. Stainless Steel Bellows

  • The generally recommended replacement period is 6-8 years.

  • High-quality stainless steel bellows, such as 304 stainless steel, have a service life of 8-10 years or even longer, and some materials mention 15-20 years or 50 years.

  • However, considering safety factors, it is recommended to replace it according to a more conservative cycle, i.e. 6-8 years.

  • Special gas pipe

    • The replacement cycle is shorter, about 1 1/2 years.

  • Plastic bellows

    • The replacement cycle is usually between 5-10 years, depending on the use environment and material.

  • Metal bellows(except stainless steel):

    • The service life can be up to 20+ years, and the recommended replacement period is 15-20 years.

  • Nylon Bellows

    • The recommended replacement cycle is around 7-10 years.

    It is important that, regardless of the replacement cycle, gas bellows should be inspected regularly and replaced as soon as aging, damage, air leaks, or other safety issues are detected, without having to wait until the specified replacement time. In addition, the scrap period of gas appliances such as gas stoves and water heaters is 8 years, so when replacing gas appliances, you should also consider replacing the connected bellows at the same time.

    Please note that while some recommended replacement periods are longer, safety always comes first, so in actual use, the optimal replacement time should be determined based on local safety regulations, manufacturer's recommendations, and the results of professional inspections. In any case, if the integrity or safety of the bellows is suspected, a professional should be contacted immediately for assessment and replacement.
