The material selection of metal corrugated compensator used in each workshop of iron and steel plant needs to be determined according to the specific working environment and media characteristics. Here are some typical material choices recommended for different shop and working conditions:
Sintering plant
Working conditions: dust-containing flue gas generated by sintering, the pressure is slightly negative pressure, and the temperature range is 80-450 DEG C.
Recommended Material: S30400 (304 stainless steel) or S31603 (316L stainless steel). These two austenitic stainless steels have good corrosion resistance and certain temperature resistance.
Steelmaking Plant
Three smoke removal pipe
Working conditions: Contains dust, slight negative pressure, and the internal medium temperature of the compensator at the outlet position of the furnace is as high as 850~950 ℃.
Recommended Material: S32100 (321 stainless steel), this material can maintain better strength and stability at higher temperatures.
Converter gas pipeline
Working conditions: Lower pressure, containing dust, maximum temperature about 250℃.
Recommended Material: S31603 (316L stainless steel), suitable for such environments due to its good corrosion resistance.
Converter flue gas pipeline
Working conditions: Slight negative pressure, maximum temperature at the expansion joint 350℃.
Recommended Material: S31603 (316L stainless steel).
Coking workshop
Working conditions: Low pressure, containing dust, maximum temperature can reach 400℃.
Recommended Material: S31603 (316L stainless steel).
ironworks
Cold air system
Working conditions: The maximum temperature is 250 DEG C, and the air pressure is between 0.25 and 0.6 MPa.
Recommended Material: S30400 (304 stainless steel) or S31603 (316L stainless steel), if there is humidification process and it is corrosive, then S31603 is more suitable.
Hot air furnace system and hot air supply branch pipe
Working conditions: High temperature and high pressure (1100~1400℃), but the temperature of the shell and tube is usually 100~250℃.
Recommended Material: S31603 (316L stainless steel), with process improvements, N08825 is also being used more and more.
Blast furnace cooling wall
Working conditions: Maximum temperature 300 °C.
Recommended Material: S30400 (304 stainless steel) or S31603 (316L stainless steel).
Choosing the right material should not only consider the above-mentioned basic working conditions, but also comprehensively consider the possibility of stress corrosion, the influence of external environment and economic cost. In addition, in practical applications, it may also be necessary to refer to the latest industry standards and technical specifications for material selection. If conditions permit, it is recommended to consult a professional engineer or supplier for the most accurate selection guidance.
