Vulcanized non-metallic expansion joint

A vulcanized non-metallic expansion joint is a special non-metallic expansion joint characterized by a vulcanized treatment of the skin (i.e., non-metallic fabric layer). Vulcanization is a chemical process commonly used in rubber products by adding sulfur or similar compounds under heating conditions to cross-link rubber molecules, thereby enhancing their physical properties such as hardness, elasticity, and heat resistance.

In non-metallic expansion joints, the vulcanization process can be applied to different non-metallic skin materials, such as silicone rubber or fluororubber, to improve their properties such as high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and mechanical strength. Key advantages of vulcanized non-metallic expansion joints include:

  1. Enhanced physical properties: The vulcanization process results in significant improvements in the physical properties of the skin material, such as increased tensile strength, temperature resistance range, and resistance to chemical attack.

  2. Improved Sealability: The vulcanized material has better sealing properties and can prevent gas or liquid leakage more effectively.

  3. Extended service life: Vulcanization increases the durability of the material and helps the expansion joint to work stably for a long time under harsh working conditions, thus prolonging its service life.

  4. Improved mechanical stability: The vulcanization process improves the stability and consistency of the material, allowing the expansion joint to perform more reliably when subjected to pressure and displacement.

  5. Better weather resistance: Vulcanized non-metallic expansion joints are better resistant to UV rays, ozone, and climate aging for outdoor and extreme weather conditions applications.

Vulcanized non-metallic expansion joints are suitable for a variety of industrial sectors, including but not limited to industries such as chemical, power, steel, oil and gas. They are commonly used in piping systems at high temperatures, high pressures, or in the presence of corrosive media to compensate for displacement due to thermal expansion, mechanical vibration, or installation errors, while providing good sealing and durability.

During the manufacturing process, the skin of the vulcanized non-metallic expansion joint may be assembled with the metal frame, platen, and connecting flange, and then formed into a one-piece expansion joint assembly through the vulcanization process. This structure not only ensures the mechanical strength of the expansion joint, but also ensures its reliable performance under complex working conditions.
