Rotary compensator is a special pipeline compensation device, which is mainly used to absorb the displacement of pipeline due to thermal expansion and contraction or other reasons, so as to avoid the damage of pipeline system caused by excessive stress. Here are some of the main roles of a rotary compensator:
Shift Conversion:
Converting axial displacement into rotational displacement, this design can significantly increase the amount of compensation while reducing the requirements for fixed brackets.
Pressure thrust self-absorbing:
Able to absorb the pressure thrust in the pipeline system by itself, reducing the load on the external structure.
Low friction resistance:
Compared with bellows compensator, the friction resistance of rotary compensator is smaller, and it has nothing to do with the displacement magnitude, which is helpful to the stable operation of pipeline system.
Sealability and Maintainability:
With the packing seal principle, it is easy to maintain and can be adjusted and repaired without stopping the machine.
Absorbed heat displacement:
It can effectively absorb and compensate the axial displacement and axial thrust of heating network pipes, especially in the design of steam heating pipes.
Stress release:
Release the stress within the pipe through rotational motion, preventing the pipe from deforming or damaging.
Adapt to complex working conditions:
It is suitable for overhead pipelines, corrosive working conditions, long-distance heat pipeline systems and steam pipeline networks, especially when natural compensation is insufficient.
Structural strength:
Strong anti-deformation ability, long-term use of welded joints is not easy to deform.
Couple balance:
When the pipe thermally expands, two rotary compensators are connected by setting a force arm to form a force couple to reach the balance of forces, thus absorbing the amount of thermal expansion.
The rotating compensator is usually composed of rotating cylinder, elbow, rotating arm short tube and sealing assembly, etc. Its working principle involves the formation of force couple, and the rotating arm changes its position through external force, thus realizing the purpose of compensation. In some specific applications, such as urban heating network, petrochemical industry, overhead pipeline and steam transportation, rotary compensators are widely used because of their unique advantages.
