Inspection of expansion joint before leaving the factory

Expansion joints need to undergo a series of rigorous tests before they leave the factory to ensure that their quality, performance and safety meet the design requirements. These inspections mainly include the following aspects:

First, the size and position of the expansion joint should be checked in detail to ensure that it meets the requirements of the design drawings and specifications. This involves critical dimensions such as the length, width, height of the expansion joint, and exactly where it will be installed in the piping system.

Secondly, check whether the material used in the expansion joint meets the relevant standards and specifications. Especially for metal expansion joints, it is necessary to check whether their metal materials meet relevant standards to ensure their good strength, corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance.

Next, a comprehensive inspection of the appearance of the expansion joint is performed. This includes checking that the surface of the expansion joint is flat, for defects or bumps, and for cracks, deformations, etc. in the expansion joint shell. These cosmetic inspections can help identify potential manufacturing defects or damage.

In addition, it is also necessary to check the waveform of the expansion joint. The waveform of the metal expansion joint should meet the design requirements, including the consistency of waveform height, wavelength, wavenumber, etc. This helps to ensure that the expansion joint can expand and contract normally during operation, and plays an effective compensation role.

Finally, perform the necessary performance tests. This may include pressure testing, leak detection, and more to evaluate the performance and tightness of the expansion joint when subjected to working pressure. These tests help ensure that the expansion joints will work properly in practical use and meet the needs of pipeline systems in power plants, cement plants, and more.

Upon completion of all inspections and testing, expansion joints also need to undergo a rigorous quality control process to ensure that their quality and performance meet factory standards. Only through this series of rigorous inspections and tests can the expansion joint be recognized as a qualified product and delivered from the factory.
