National specification for non-metallic expansion joints

The main national specification followed by non-metallic expansion joint in China is JB/T 12235-2015 Non-metallic Expansion Joint. This specification provides basic guidelines for the design, manufacture, inspection and use of non-metallic expansion joints, ensuring the safety and reliability of such products in a variety of industrial applications.

However, in addition to this standard specific to non-metallic expansion joints, the installation, use, and acceptance of non-metallic expansion joints may be influenced by other relevant national standards and industry norms, such as:

  1. GB50235-2010 Construction Code for Industrial Metal Pipe Works: This specification relates to the installation requirements of expansion joints in pipeline systems, including the correct installation steps and precautions for non-metallic expansion joints.

  2. GB/T 12777-2008 General specifications for bellows expansion joints: Although it is mainly aimed at metal bellows expansion joints, some principles and technical requirements may be of reference value for the performance evaluation of non-metal expansion joints.

  3. GB/T 14525-2010 Metal bellows expansion joint for fluid transport: Although with respect to metal bellows expansion joints, in some cases, performance testing and design considerations for non-metal expansion joints may refer to some parts of this standard.

In addition, there are some international standards, such as ASTM F1123, which is a standard specification for non-metallic expansion joints developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), which specifies minimum standards for the construction, materials, properties, and dimensional requirements of non-metallic expansion joints.

When it comes to non-metallic expansion joints in high temperature environments, there may be more specific standards for execution, such as non-metallic expansion joints in high temperature flue applications, whose manufacture and use may have additional technical requirements and material selection guidelines.

When using non-metallic expansion joints, in addition to the above standards and specifications, the specific needs and operating conditions of the project should also be considered to ensure that the appropriate expansion joint type and specifications are selected while following the latest national and industry standards for installation and maintenance. If the project involves export or cross-regional applications, attention should also be paid to the specific standards and regulations of the destination country or region.
